Co-op is gearing up to unveil 11 fresh outlets this week, spanning from Bristol to the Scottish Highlights, with a notable presence as the primary permanent retailer at the new Brent Cross Town development in London. These new stores encompass a mix of brand-new shops, franchise-operated outlets, and redesigned locations. This initiative is part of the retailer’s strategic investment in over 200 new and revamped stores by 2024/25.
This recent wave of openings is part of the 50-store expansion plan Co-op recently confirmed for November and December, timed perfectly for the festive season. The Co-op is urging the Government to implement business rates reform in the upcoming Budget to support retail growth.
Kate McCrae, Co-op’s Operations Director, emphasized the brand’s commitment to establishing local stores that serve as community hubs and cater to the needs of residents conveniently. She highlighted the importance of local job creation, support for British farmers and suppliers, and the belief in the future of the high street.
Co-op also introduced 200 new personalized offers, increased discounts, member-exclusive games, reward schemes, and special deals as part of its membership program. Shoppers stand to save over £90 across October, November, and December, with monthly prize draws and rewards for in-store and online purchases.
Rachel Halter, Co-op’s Director of Membership, reiterated the company’s dedication to providing added value to its members through enhanced personalized offers, discount benefits, and engaging features like booster offers and in-app games. This commitment aims to deliver exceptional value and rewards to members with every Co-op purchase.
