“UK Deports Migrant Who Returned by Small Boat”

Published:

A man who returned to the UK in a small boat after being deported previously has been deported again. The Home Office has confirmed the deportation of the migrant, who was detained on both occasions he entered Britain. He was flown back today after being initially removed on September 19 and returning on October 18.

Under the ‘one in one out’ deal between the UK and France, a total of 94 individuals have been sent back to France. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood emphasized that attempting to re-enter the UK after deportation under this agreement is futile and costly. Biometrics identified the individual promptly upon arrival, leading to his immediate detention and subsequent removal.

In response to his deportation, the man expressed his fears of safety in France and the dangers posed by human traffickers. He detailed his harrowing experience in France, where he was threatened with violence and felt unsafe. The agreement established in July allows for the detention and return of individuals arriving in the UK by small boat, with reciprocal returns of legitimate asylum seekers to France.

The UK government aims to deter individuals from resorting to traffickers by increasing the number of returns through this agreement. By scaling up removals of illegal migrants, the government intends to strengthen border security and discourage risky attempts at illegal entry.
