“Tragic Stabbing Incident Leaves Two Children Dead, One Rescued”

Published:

A father in distress witnessed the police rescuing his surviving child following the tragic stabbing deaths of his two other children in a Stafford residence. Staffordshire Police responded to a call at a property on Corporation Street early Sunday morning where two young victims, identified as Meraj Ul Zahra, aged two, and Abdul Momin Alfaateh, three, were discovered unresponsive with injuries. Despite medical efforts, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Another child, believed to be a boy, was found alive at the location, with witnesses mentioning that the father was too overwhelmed to escort him to the police vehicle. A 43-year-old woman from the Stafford area was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior police engagement, according to Staffordshire Police.

Neighbors recounted hearing sirens and seeing the surviving child being taken away by the police since the father was too distraught to do so. The community expressed shock and sadness over the tragic events that unfolded. Detective Inspector Kirsty Oldfield urged the public to refrain from speculation to avoid causing distress to the family and friends and impeding the investigation process.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the tragic outcome for the two children found at the scene. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Staffordshire Police at 101 or via Live Chat on their website, quoting incident number 147 of 12 October. Reports can also be made anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
