“Top Horse Trainer Disqualified After Altercation”

Published:

A horse racing trainer in Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia, has been disqualified after a verbal altercation with a racing official. Garry Lunn, known for training numerous winning horses, faced consequences following an incident during a stable audit inspection conducted by RacingNSW officials.

During the inspection, it was discovered that there were inaccuracies in the stable return records. When Racing steward Xavier Dalton returned for a follow-up inspection the next month, Lunn became confrontational and hurled insults at Dalton, including calling him “the dopiest Steward” and using profanities.

The situation escalated as Lunn continued his aggressive behavior even after Dalton attempted to leave the premises. Lunn confronted Dalton near his vehicle, where the verbal abuse continued. As a result of his actions, Lunn was charged with obstructing Dalton from performing his duties and engaging in improper and insulting conduct.

Despite denying the charges, Lunn was found guilty and handed a three-month disqualification for the first offense and a nine-month disqualification for the second offense, to be served concurrently starting from November 14, 2025, until August 14, 2026.
