“River Island Recalls Handbag Over Lead Contamination”

Published:

River Island has issued a product recall for its Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag due to elevated levels of lead detected on the gold chain. Exposure to lead can lead to kidney and circulatory system damage and poses a significant risk to pregnant women. The item code affected is 927917.

In an online recall notice, River Island stated that the decision to recall the handbag was made after tests revealed higher than acceptable lead levels in the handle. While the affected areas are small, they are accessible during use, not meeting the brand’s safety standards. Customers are advised to stop using the product and make arrangements for its return.

River Island emphasized that although the risk of harm is low, lead is toxic and can cause health issues if ingested or mouthed for extended periods. As a precaution, the company is recalling the product immediately to prioritize customer safety. Customers are urged to cease using the handbag and store it safely until it can be returned, with a full refund promised for any inconvenience caused.

For returns, customers can send the product to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW, for both in-store and online purchases. Additionally, inquiries can be directed to customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.

For information on other recalls, consumers can check the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards (CTS) Institute websites. Stores may also display recall notices for products withdrawn from shelves.

In related recalls, Tesco has recalled its Celery Fruit and Nut Salad due to undeclared mustard, posing a risk to those allergic to mustard. Kendamil infant milk and Amazon’s Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest have also been recalled for safety concerns, prompting customers to return the products for refunds.
