“Raducanu Concludes WTA Season Early But Aims for Australian Open Seed”

Published:

Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal objectives as the WTA Tour season concludes. The British tennis star ended her season prematurely in early October due to health reasons.

Raducanu’s season had its ups and downs. She secured notable wins at Wimbledon and the US Open, reclaiming her position as the top-ranked player in Britain. However, she faced fitness challenges towards the end of the season, culminating in needing medical assistance and losing her opening match at the Ningbo Open in three sets.

After encountering these obstacles, Raducanu made the decision to conclude her season early but confirmed that she would continue working with coach Francisco Roig in 2026. This choice jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.

The 22-year-old withdrew from her final two tournaments of the year while ranked 29th, casting doubt on her aspiration to be in the top 32. With no additional ranking points gained from withdrawing, she awaited confirmation on achieving this milestone.

With the season now wrapped up, Raducanu finished the year as the world No. 29. Barring a challenging start to the upcoming events in 2026, she is set to be seeded in Melbourne.

In early October, Raducanu set this objective, emphasizing the importance of being seeded at the first Grand Slam of the new season. She expressed her determination to elevate her ranking for better opportunities in tournament draws.

Additionally, the British tennis sensation highlighted the significance of being a role model, stressing the importance of maintaining a positive attitude on and off the court to inspire younger generations.

Raducanu is currently the sole British player within the top 32 of the WTA rankings, which were led by Aryna Sabalenka as the world No. 1. Sky has announced reduced prices for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering members savings and an expanded range of live sports coverage, including more Premier League matches than before.
