A variety of investment opportunities will be highlighted by Prime Minister Mark Carney at an upcoming investment summit in Toronto, including a floating LNG terminal on B.C.’s coast, a high-speed rail line between Edmonton and Calgary, and a pipeline from Alberta to the Pacific Ocean. Detailed in a 66-page prospectus obtained by CBC News, the projects aim to attract $1 trillion in investment at the event on September 14 and 15.

The summit, organized by the prime minister in collaboration with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Public Sector Pension Investment Board, aims to bring together international investors and Canadian business leaders to boost investment amidst trade disruptions and geopolitical uncertainties. Notable projects span various sectors such as conventional and clean energy, mining, marine infrastructure, power, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, and transportation.

Some major projects include a $57 billion US expansion of the Port of Churchill, a $44 billion investment in Nova Scotia’s Wind West offshore wind project, a proposed $35 billion West Coast oil pipeline from Alberta to B.C., and the $28.5 billion Ksi Lisims LNG terminal project. The summit also features projects in glass manufacturing, defense technology, satellite technology, and infrastructure development.

Notably absent from the list are the Alto high-speed rail project and plans for airport privatization. While some projects are advanced and ready for implementation, others are in the early stages of development. The prospectus details a range of projects, including the Port of Churchill expansion, a high-speed rail line between Calgary and Edmonton, and an oil pipeline linking Alberta to British Columbia.

In the natural gas sector, a $28.5 billion pitch is made for the floating Ksi Lisims LNG export facility in B.C., aiming to diversify Canada’s natural gas export destinations. The summit also focuses on clean energy projects like nuclear power generation, carbon capture, and wind power. Additionally, Canada’s AI advancements are highlighted, offering investment opportunities in data centers and quantum computing technology.

The investment summit seeks to showcase Canada as an attractive investment destination across various sectors, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.
