“Phil Taylor Surprised by Luke Littler’s Minimal Practice Plan”

Published:

Darts icon Phil Taylor was surprised by Luke Littler’s revelation that he plans to do minimal practice before defending his £1m World Darts Championships title.

Littler aims to achieve a rare feat by retaining the Sid Waddell Trophy, with the prestigious darts tournament kicking off on Thursday night. The young player from Warrington will face off against Lithuanian Darius Labanauskas in the opening round.

Despite being urged by Taylor to practice more, Littler is adamant about reducing his practice sessions. Taylor, a 16-time world champion, expressed astonishment at Littler’s approach.

Speaking on SunSport’s Flight Club, Taylor commented on Littler’s preparation, emphasizing the importance of confidence in winning the championship. Despite Littler’s unconventional practice routine, Taylor praised his natural talent and confidence.

Taylor, known for his rigorous practice regimen during his 31-year professional career, highlighted the mental aspect as the biggest challenge for players at Ally Pally. He stressed the significance of mental preparation and advised against over-practicing, especially with the substantial prize money at stake this year. Taylor emphasized the need for proper rest and avoiding exhaustion to maintain peak performance throughout the three-week championship.
