NYPD Detective Dies After Cosmetic Surgery

Published:

A tragic incident has unfolded as a mother of three and police detective passed away just a week after undergoing buttock lift and liposuction procedures. Alicia Stone, a 40-year-old officer from the New York Police Department (NYPD), was discovered unresponsive in her hotel room and quickly transported to Fundación Valle del Lili Hospital in Colombia.

Despite being admitted for medical care, Alicia, a veteran of 13 years with the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau, was pronounced dead within an hour, sources disclosed. The cause of her death was listed as “unspecified cardiac arrest.” Her husband, Michael, has urged for an inquiry into his wife’s sudden demise, expressing concerns that “something doesn’t add up.”

Prior to her hospitalization, Alicia had undergone a gluteal fat transfer and liposuction procedure. She had been taking anticoagulants and pain medication, as detailed by the New York Daily News. Michael recounted receiving a distressing phone call from the doctor in Colombia informing him of his wife’s passing, with little information given about the circumstances. He emphasized his disbelief at being notified on Thursday about her sudden death.

Michael emphasized that Alicia had been in good health before the surgery and had felt well the day prior to her unexpected death. He stressed the importance of obtaining all the facts surrounding the incident. A fundraising campaign has been initiated to assist Alicia’s family, portraying her as a caring mother and dedicated public servant who had a positive impact on those she encountered.

Recent research published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal highlighted the heightened risks associated with buttock enhancement procedures compared to other cosmetic surgeries in the United States. Globally, statistics indicate a substantially higher fatality rate following buttock enhancement surgeries, emphasizing the potential dangers associated with such procedures.
