“Multiple Injured in Black Friday Mall Shooting”

Published:

At least three individuals were swiftly taken to the hospital following a shooting incident at a shopping center amidst the Black Friday sales, causing shoppers to seek shelter.

The Westfield Valley Fair Mall in San Jose, California, was the scene of the tragic event, prompting a manhunt for the perpetrator. Multiple individuals are currently receiving medical attention for gunshot injuries, as confirmed by local law enforcement.

The victims of the assault, including a man, a woman, and a 16-year-old girl, sustained injuries during the incident that occurred at 5:40 PM local time the previous day, according to Sergeant Jorge Garibay of the San Jose Police Department.

Authorities have labeled the incident as an “isolated” one, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to public safety, as stated by the San Jose Police Department.

Reports indicate that the shooting likely transpired following a dispute between the suspected gunman and the male victim, inadvertently involving the two female victims, as detailed by KRON4 news outlet.

Eyewitness Shawn Kulasingham, 23, recounted hearing a loud noise followed by a chaotic scene of people running. He described the situation as a stampede, with the building seemingly trembling under the commotion.

Kulasingham recounted seeking refuge in an Abercrombie & Fitch store with his family, hiding among clothing racks and cabinets as panic unfolded around them.

Store security at Bloomingdales reportedly directed around 20 customers, including Bilal Zuberi and his wife, into storage closets as a precaution. Although Zuberi did not personally hear gunshots, he described a sense of panic and an announcement instructing everyone to remain inside with locked doors.
