The Canadian-produced hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” continues to add new talent to its second season lineup. Following its successful first season that gained global recognition, the show has recruited three new cast members. The latest additions include Milla Jovovich, known for her roles in the “Resident Evil” franchise and “The Fifth Element,” Kevin Zegers from Woodstock, Ont., recognized for his work in “Gossip Girl” and “Transamerica,” and Paul Gross, a prominent figure in Canadian film and television with credits like “Due South” and “Men With Brooms.”
Author Rachel Reid, whose books inspired the series, expressed excitement about the new cast members. The show revolves around the clandestine relationship between two competitive ice hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, portrayed by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, respectively. Noteworthy additions to the cast for the upcoming season include Emily Hampshire from “Schitt’s Creek,” Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, and Priyanka from “Canada’s Drag Race.”
The production also welcomes back Season 1 actors Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. The series creator Jacob Tierney has assembled a diverse Canadian talent pool for the new season’s roster. The second season of “Heated Rivalry” is set to premiere on Crave in Spring 2027 after commencing filming on August 17, as confirmed by Tierney. Despite its immense popularity, the show is ineligible for the Primetime Emmys this year but has received significant acclaim at the Canadian Screen Awards, winning multiple accolades.
