A European airport has ceased operations following unidentified drone activity in the vicinity, marking the third such occurrence within a span of two days.
Vilnius Airport in Lithuania confirmed that airspace restrictions were imposed after a drone was sighted within the airport’s vicinity, as per preliminary reports.
Meanwhile, Belgium experienced a similar situation as two major international airports, including Brussels, had to halt operations due to drone sightings. Brussels Airport declared a temporary suspension of all departing and arriving flights due to drones in the vicinity, causing delays and flight cancellations.
Additionally, Charleroi, the second-largest airport in Brussels, briefly paused air traffic as a precautionary measure. Flights were redirected to Liege airport initially, but it was later closed due to suspected drone activity.
The evolving situation may continue to affect flight operations on Wednesday morning, as authorities work to manage the disruptions caused by the drone incidents.
