“Canada Wins 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series Title in Takasaki”

Published:

Canada concluded the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series on a high note by defeating Japan 20-10 in the final match to clinch the Takasaki championship, marking their second title of the season following their victory in Shanghai in May.

The top-seeded Canadian team showcased dominance throughout the tournament, sweeping Pool A and securing victories over China (21-9) in the quarterfinals and Neftchi SOCAR (22-12) in the semifinals. Paige Crozon delivered a stellar performance against China, contributing 11 points and eight rebounds, while Merissah Russell added eight points in the semifinal match.

In the championship showdown, Canada took an early lead and maintained control, eventually securing a convincing 20-10 win over Japan to claim the Takasaki title. Russell’s standout performances earned her the Takasaki MVP award, leading the tournament in player value (45.3) and drives (12), while ranking second in total points (32) and highlights (17).

Although Canada’s triumph concludes their Women’s Series campaign on a high note, they will not progress to the Project Redwings Shanghai Final in September.
