“Actress Hayden Panettiere Dies at 36”

Published:

Hayden Panettiere, renowned for her roles in hit TV shows like “Heroes” and “Nashville,” has passed away at the age of 36. The sad news was confirmed by her father, Skip, in a statement released to ABC News and The Guardian on Sunday.

The announcement described Hayden as a beacon of light and a vibrant presence who brought immense love and happiness to those around her and her countless fans who followed her on screen.

Authorities in Greenville, S.C., reported responding to an incident involving an unresponsive woman at the Judson Mill Lofts just before 2 p.m. on Sunday. Despite efforts to save her, Panettiere was declared deceased at the scene. The police stated that no foul play or suspicious circumstances were evident, and they were alerted to the situation by an acquaintance of Panettiere who dialed 911. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.

Panettiere’s publicist did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Associated Press and CBC News. In her last Instagram post from July 27, Panettiere is captured in a black and white image, smiling and winking alongside director and photographer Randall Slavin, expressing fond memories with the caption “Good times and good friends.”

Having turned 37 on the upcoming Friday, Panettiere commenced her acting journey as a child artist in commercials and soap operas. Her portrayal of a cheerleader with superhuman abilities in “Heroes” skyrocketed her to stardom in 2006, with the series revolving around the iconic phrase “Save the cheerleader, save the world.”

Panettiere, a versatile talent, later starred as a spirited country singer opposite Connie Britton in “Nashville,” garnering two Golden Globe nominations for her supporting role. She showcased her singing prowess in the show, leading to several chart-topping hits on the country music scene.

Tragically, Panettiere’s younger brother, Jansen, also an actor, passed away in 2023 at the age of 28 due to a heart condition. The actress had been candid about her battles with alcoholism and depression, particularly after the birth of her daughter in 2014 with former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Panettiere’s struggles with mental health and addiction led her to enter rehab in 2015 while actively filming “Nashville.” She spoke openly about her challenges and the custody arrangement for her 11-year-old daughter, emphasizing that there was a misconception regarding her decision to have her daughter live with Klitschko in Ukraine.

The news of Panettiere’s untimely death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues and fans alike, with many remembering her as a talented and courageous individual. Viola Davis, who acted alongside Panettiere in the film “Custody,” expressed her admiration for the late actress, while podcaster Jay Shetty, who recently interviewed Panettiere, shared his disbelief and condolences to her family and supporters. David Arquette and Rosie O’Donnell also paid heartfelt tributes to Panettiere, mourning the loss of a remarkable soul.
