“Bleed Radiators for 97p Fix to Cold Spots”

Published:

A specialist from British Gas has shared insights on how to address cold spots in radiators, with a cost-effective solution priced at only 97p. If you notice cold areas, gurgling sounds, or slow heating in your radiator, bleeding it could resolve the issue. This process involves using a radiator key, which can be purchased inexpensively from Screwfix. To begin, turn off your heating system and ensure the radiator is cool to avoid burns. Have a towel and container ready to collect water as you release trapped air by turning the radiator valve anti-clockwise with the key. Peter Knowles, a technical repair engineer, advises caution to prevent lowering boiler pressure. For persistent issues, it’s advisable to seek assistance from a certified gas engineer. Additionally, a British Gas energy engineer suggests leaving the oven door open after cooking to utilize residual heat, helping to maintain warmth in the house. Energy bills have recently increased, with average yearly costs for gas and electricity now around £1,758 for direct debit customers. The price cap controls unit rates and standing charges but does not cap total energy expenses. Customers on variable tariffs fall under the price cap, with pre-payment meter users facing a yearly cap of £1,711 and bill payment customers paying up to £1,894 annually.
