“Deadline Looming: Act Now for Winter Fuel Payment”

Published:

An impending deadline is approaching for individuals who have not yet received their Winter Fuel Payment.

The Winter Fuel Payment, valued at up to £300, is disbursed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to individuals over the state pension age. Those earning above £35,000 annually are required to reimburse the payment through the tax system.

While the majority of recipients typically receive their Winter Fuel Payment in November or December, if you have not received it by January 28, 2026, you are advised to reach out to the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

To address any payment concerns, individuals can contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre via phone or mail. The helpline number is 0800 731 0160, or for Relay UK, dial 18001 followed by 0800 731 0160. The postal address is: Winter Fuel Payment Centre, Mail Handling Site A, Wolverhampton, WV98 1LR.

According to information on GOV.UK, most Winter Fuel Payments are automatically processed in November or December. If by January 28, 2026, you have not received a letter or the payment in your account, it is recommended to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

Winter Fuel Payments are being distributed to individuals born before September 22, 1959, who claimed specific benefits during the qualifying week of September 15 to 21, 2025. If you did not claim these benefits, you must apply for the Winter Fuel Payment by contacting the Winter Fuel Payment Centre by phone or mail before March 31, 2026.

Residents in Scotland are eligible for the Pension Age Winter Heating Payment, replacing the Winter Fuel Payment, ranging from £101.70 to £305.10.
