Teenage Girl Fatally Attacked by Bear During Siberian Walk

Published:

A tragic incident occurred during a leisurely walk in Siberia, Russia, as a teenage girl, Olga Moskalyova, was fatally attacked by a bear while out with her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov. The shocking event unfolded as the pair encountered a group of wild bears by the river. Olga, speaking to her mother on the phone, described the terrifying situation before the call abruptly ended as the bear attacked her stepfather and then pursued her.

Despite making multiple distress calls to her mother during the brutal attack, Olga’s pleas for help went unanswered as the bear inflicted fatal injuries. Her mother, initially thinking it was a prank, soon realized the severity of the situation upon hearing the gruesome sounds of the attack. In her final moments, Olga expressed love and regret to her mother before the tragic incident came to a devastating end.

Following the incident, authorities were alerted, and six hunters were dispatched to locate and eliminate the bears responsible. Tragically, the hunters discovered the bears still feeding on Olga’s lifeless body, highlighting the gruesome aftermath of the attack. Described as a vibrant and caring individual, Olga had a promising future ahead, having recently obtained her driving license and graduated from music school.

The incident sheds light on the increasing frequency of bear attacks in Russia, particularly in regions where human encroachment into wildlife habitats leads to confrontations with these powerful animals. The community mourned the loss of Olga and her stepfather, who were laid to rest on the same day following the tragic incident in 2011.
