Tommy Robinson Trial Verdict Delayed Amid Israel Trip

Published:

Tommy Robinson will have to wait three weeks for the outcome of his trial as he is heading to Israel as an official guest of the government. The 42-year-old controversial figure was stopped at the Channel Tunnel last year with a significant amount of cash in his silver Bentley. During the encounter, PC Mitchell Thorogood requested access to Robinson’s iPhone under the Terrorism Act, which Robinson refused to provide. Despite this, Robinson denies any wrongdoing in failing to comply.

When questioned by the police, Robinson claimed his phone contained work-related information as he identified himself as a journalist. He also mentioned that the device held details about “vulnerable girls.” If found guilty, Robinson, also known as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, could face a maximum sentence of three months in jail. In a video shared online, Robinson stated that his legal fees were being covered by Elon Musk, the owner of the platform where the video was posted.

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, could potentially be imprisoned for up to three months pending the trial’s outcome. He is scheduled to depart for Israel on Wednesday and will return on October 25, as revealed during the proceedings at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.

Although both the prosecution and defense have presented their arguments, District Judge Sam Goozee has yet to decide on Robinson’s guilt or innocence. Due to Robinson’s impending trip to Israel, the judge postponed the verdict announcement until November 4, accommodating Robinson’s travel plans.

Following the conclusion of the hearing, Robinson shared on social media his anticipation for the verdict on November 4 in London. He expressed his upcoming trip to Israel as a gesture of solidarity with the Jewish state and emphasized his appreciation to Elon Musk for supporting his legal expenses. Robinson also highlighted his visit to Israel as a guest of government officials and as a loyal friend of the Jewish community.
