“Jake Paul’s Promoter Investigates Gervonta Davis Allegations”

Published:

Jake Paul’s promotional company has issued a statement following allegations against Gervonta Davis, Paul’s upcoming opponent, involving battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping by an ex-girlfriend.

The scheduled exhibition fight between Paul and Davis in Miami on November 14 has sparked controversy due to the serious accusations against Davis, who competes in the lightweight category while Paul fights in the cruiserweight division. Although the match won’t affect their professional records, a winner will be determined by stoppage or decision from two human judges and an AI official if the fight goes the distance.

Calls have arisen for the bout to be called off in light of the accusations against Davis. Recent reports suggested that Paul may replace Davis with Ryan Garcia, but Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, indicated that no decision has been finalized.

In a statement, Most Valuable Promotions stated that they have initiated an investigation into the civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30, 2025. They emphasized their condemnation of violence and their commitment to handling the matter with thoroughness and respect for all parties involved. A decision on the next steps will be made after completing the review and consulting with relevant parties.

Davis has not responded to the allegations, but his trainer, Calvin Ford, dismissed them as baseless. The lawsuit accuses Davis of assaulting his ex-partner, Courtney Rossel, at her workplace on October 27, along with previous threats and physical assaults. Rossel is seeking damages of $50,000 and a jury trial.

Meanwhile, a potential fight between Paul and Garcia has been ruled out, as promoter Oscar De La Hoya explained the contractual constraints between Garcia and DAZN, and Paul with Netflix. Paul may delay his return to the ring until December and has been previously linked with heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, although a last-minute deal is unlikely.
