“BT Launches Smart Hub 3 with Enhanced Security & Performance”

Published:

BT has introduced a new method to access the internet that goes beyond simple connectivity. The company’s latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router is set to roll out in UK households soon, boasting enhanced connectivity and added security features.

Among its features is technology that can automatically spot risky websites, alerting users to potential malware or other online dangers. Additionally, it can identify hacker attempts to breach smart home devices like internet-connected cameras and block suspicious activities proactively.

Users will have the ability to track any identified threats through the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app. These enhancements are expected to enhance online security for households and pre-empt cyber threats effectively.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance. It supports Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which aids in extending signal coverage across the home and eliminating dead zones in weak signal areas.

As per images reviewed by Mirror Online, the Smart Hub 3 has a sleek, minimalist design featuring a small BT logo at its center.

Notably, the router supports Wi-Fi 6, rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard found in some competitor devices like EE routers. Although Wi-Fi 7 provides faster speeds, lower latency, and better reliability, many existing devices do not yet support it, making Wi-Fi 6 more than sufficient for most households and a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 technologies.

To obtain this new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to all new customers, with some existing users potentially eligible for an upgrade.

The distinction between Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 lies in their wireless performance improvements. Wi-Fi 6 enhances speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4, while Wi-Fi 7 takes it a step further with wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and higher speeds, making it especially useful for gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home setups.

For most users today, Wi-Fi 6 remains a solid choice, while Wi-Fi 7 represents a more future-proof solution.
