“Stabbing Attacks Shock Spain: Victims Assaulted in Valencia and Mallorca”

Published:

A man from Britain was hospitalized in Spain after an incident where he was stabbed with a screwdriver by a passerby who requested a cigarette, which he refused to give. The victim, identified as Scottish by the authorities, suffered a punctured lung during the attack in Valencia’s city center around 4 am on a Saturday. Following the assault, a 45-year-old man, reported to have a criminal record, was apprehended at the scene in relation to the incident, as per local sources.

The assault came to light when two police officers responded to the cries of a woman who was with the victim, a citizen of Uruguay, when the stabbing occurred. The woman informed the police that the suspect approached the man for a cigarette, and upon rejection, proceeded to stab him with a screwdriver.

According to reports from Las Provincias newspaper, the suspect was described as an individual exhibiting “altered mental faculties.” The victim was admitted to Doctor Peset University Hospital in Valencia, although his current medical condition remains undisclosed.

In a separate incident at Palma Airport in Mallorca, a man in his 20s was stabbed in the neck without any apparent motive while awaiting the arrival of a friend. The attack was described as brutal and unprovoked. The victim was approached by an individual who inquired about his phone, and without warning, the attacker pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the neck.

Local reports indicated that a suspect was swiftly arrested within the airport premises after the assault, while the victim received immediate medical attention from a SAMU 061 ambulance team at the scene. Following stabilization by the medical team, the victim was transferred to a hospital for specialized care.

A reliable source later mentioned that the assailant had no recollection of the event, citing a possible reaction to his phone being stolen earlier at the airport. The arrested individual reportedly became agitated, approached the first person he saw, and wrongly assumed the person had his missing phone.

During the time of the incident, it was reported that the suspect was among the homeless individuals at Palma Airport. The victim, an Argentine resident of the island, had gone to pick up a family member and had no prior acquaintance with the man who nearly took his life.
