Amazon is set to introduce a new streaming device that boasts advanced features not found in current models. The Fire TV Stick HD, the latest offering from the tech giant, will be priced at £39.99 upon its release later this month. Despite its lower price point, it offers significant upgrades, including a slimmer and more stylish design compared to its predecessor.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is 30% narrower than previous models, making it easier to discreetly fit behind TVs and more portable for users on the go. A key feature of this device is its power source, as it now draws power from the television’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.
According to Amazon, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device, smaller in both volume and width than previous models, and optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing for a more compact installation behind a TV.”
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, it provides instant access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. Additionally, it includes a user-friendly remote with Alexa voice search and quick access buttons for seamless app launching.
While it does not support 4K resolution, the Fire TV Stick HD offers full HD viewing, suitable for most households. Amazon highlights that the new device delivers noticeable speed enhancements over previous HD models, being more than 30% faster on average than the previous generation. This results in quicker startup times and app loading speeds.
The Fire TV Stick HD comes equipped with the latest Fire operating system, offering an enhanced user experience with improved recommendations and a cleaner interface for easier content discovery. Scheduled for release on April 29th, the device will be available for purchase at a price of £39.99.
