SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two new fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at their original face value. The province’s consumer protection website reveals that the recent fines imposed on the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500. One of the fines, totaling $15,000, is for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale above the permitted resale price. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, is for purportedly not disclosing the full ticket price when purchased from the original seller. Both SeatGeek Canada and the province have yet to comment on the specific events linked to these fines or whether the company intends to challenge the penalties. In a similar incident, the province had previously fined the company $25,000 in August for comparable violations.
