Canadian defender Moise Bombito is set to undergo surgery on his left tibia once again, as announced by his club team Nice. The decision came after the 26-year-old center back experienced chronic pain, leading to a scan and the determination that surgery was necessary.
Bombito revealed that a conversation with Canadian national team coach Jesse Marsch played a significant role in his decision. Despite his desire to represent his country at the upcoming FIFA World Cup on home soil, Bombito acknowledged his body’s limitations and the need for surgery.
Following an initial tibia fracture in October, Bombito made a comeback to compete for Canada during the summer. Despite playing in three of Canada’s matches, including a full 90-minute performance in the round-of-16, Bombito admitted to struggling physically, especially during the knockout win over South Africa.
Expressing his disappointment over the setback, Bombito emphasized his determination to overcome the injury and return to full fitness. The defender, who joined Nice in 2024 after his stint with the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer, highlighted his eagerness to recover fully and perform at his best on the field.
Despite experiencing discomfort and pain upon his return to Nice, Bombito delayed surgery to explore all options before committing to the procedure. He described the constant pain he endured, likening it to an electric shock with every step, emphasizing his eagerness to put an end to the ongoing struggle and return to peak performance.
As Bombito faces another surgery and rehabilitation process, he remains optimistic about the future and his ability to regain full health and form to continue his professional soccer career.
