Tragic Collision on Interstate 85 Claims 8 Lives

A tragic collision involving six vehicles, including a truck, resulted in the death of a pregnant woman and seven of her family members. The truck driver, identified as Kane Aaron Hammock, 33, has been charged with multiple counts, including vehicular homicide and feticide by a vehicle. The incident occurred on Interstate 85 in Jackson County, about 62 miles northeast of Atlanta.

The victims, including a woman named Kenia Ramirez who was three months pregnant, her partner Darwin Ventura, and their child Kayle, were among those who lost their lives in the devastating crash. Kenia’s mother and four other children also perished in the incident, which triggered a chain reaction involving four additional vehicles.

Family members of the deceased have expressed shock and grief over the tragic loss. A fundraiser has been set up to assist with funeral expenses as they mourn the unexpected deaths. Meanwhile, a van transporting 37 cats to a shelter was also caught in the collision, resulting in casualties among the animals and volunteers.

The community is reeling from the impact of the accident, with two cats still missing and one in critical condition. The devastating consequences of the crash have left loved ones grappling with profound sorrow and memories of those taken too soon.
