“Labour Party Reinstates MPs Suspended Over Discipline Issues”

Published:

Four Members of Parliament who were suspended by the Labour Party have been reinstated after holding discussions with the Chief Whip. Brian Leishman, Chris Hinchliff, Neil Duncan-Jordan, and Rachael Maskell, who were elected just last year, were suspended in July for repeatedly breaching party discipline.

The four MPs have had their Labour whip restored following a review of their recent behavior. They were part of a group of Labour backbenchers who opposed the government in July over disability benefit cuts, which were later abandoned due to a significant revolt.

Rachael Maskell expressed gratitude for having the whip reinstated and emphasized her commitment to Labour values and serving her constituents in York. She highlighted the importance of addressing poverty and improving public services and the economy.

Brian Leishman, representing Alloa and Grangemouth, emphasized the importance of resolving disagreements in politics and reaffirmed his dedication to the Labour Party’s mission of social change and empowering the working class.

Neil Duncan-Jordan, the MP for Poole, welcomed the restoration of the Labour whip and pledged to continue advocating for Labour values, focusing on alleviating poverty and promoting a fairer society.

Chris Hinchliff also welcomed his reinstatement and mentioned having positive discussions with the new chief whip. He reiterated his commitment to serving the communities of North East Hertfordshire and supporting Labour’s goal of prioritizing people and the environment over profit.
