Mercedes Supports Hamilton Through Tough Season

Published:

Mercedes’ head of communications has revealed that team principal Toto Wolff has been in communication with former driver Lewis Hamilton to provide assistance during a tough season at Ferrari. The seven-time world champion has been facing challenges adapting to the team due to a lackluster car and questionable race strategies.

Hamilton’s difficulties were highlighted at the previous Grand Prix in Qatar, where he struggled in qualifying and finished outside the points during the race, currently placing him in sixth in the driver standings with a risk of dropping to seventh in the upcoming Abu Dhabi race.

Expressing his frustration with his debut season at Ferrari, Hamilton described it as the “worst season ever,” despite giving his all both on and off the track. Mercedes has shown personal support to Hamilton, with the team’s chief communications officer, Bradley Lord, confirming discussions aimed at helping Hamilton navigate through this tough phase, including Wolff traveling with him to race locations.

In a statement to CHAMP1, Lord mentioned, “We empathize with him on a human level, understanding the dedication Lewis puts into his work and the challenges he faces. We aim to support him in our capacity, with Wolff providing guidance and encouragement, believing in Hamilton’s potential to excel in the sport.”

Looking ahead to the final race in Abu Dhabi, Hamilton is focused on maintaining his position in the drivers’ standings. As he prepares to bid farewell to the current Ferrari model, which has presented numerous difficulties, Hamilton will be absent from the first free practice session, with Arthur Leclerc taking his place.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, has urged the team to persevere towards returning to winning ways. The team is determined to end the season positively before shifting their focus to the upcoming 2026 campaign.
