“Year After Liam Payne’s Tragic Death: CCTV Review Continues”

Published:

It has been a year since the tragic passing of Liam Payne, and law enforcement officers are still reviewing 800 hours of CCTV footage related to the death of the One Direction member. Liam, who gained international fame as part of the popular boy band, died on October 16, 2024, after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At the time of his death, the Wolverhampton-born singer-songwriter was 31 years old and far away from his home and young son Bear, whom he shared with singer Cheryl. The news of Liam’s untimely death prompted an emotional response from fans worldwide, with memorial events held in various cities to honor his memory.

Following a private funeral in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, where a poignant ‘Daddy’ floral tribute was displayed, an inquest in the UK in January 2025 determined that Liam’s cause of death was polytrauma, involving multiple bodily injuries. A toxicology report also revealed the presence of cocaine, alcohol, and prescription antidepressants in his system.

As investigations continue, two individuals have been accused of supplying drugs to Liam and are currently detained, awaiting trial. Despite denying the allegations, Braian Paiz and Ezequl David Pereya could face a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty. Paiz, a former hotel employee, expressed concerns for his safety while in custody, claiming innocence in providing drugs to the late singer.

While authorities in Argentina sift through extensive CCTV footage and digital evidence, loved ones of Liam remain hopeful for progress in the case. The slow-paced investigation has been described as frustrating by insiders, with delays in court proceedings and evidence examination prolonging the legal process.

As per Argentinian legal procedures, prosecutors gather evidence for judicial review to determine trial feasibility. Liam’s family continues to stay informed about the ongoing developments, anticipating a resolution in the near future.
