A young woman was discovered unconscious behind the wheel of an Audi, with the engine running and an empty balloon in her mouth, according to a recent court hearing. The incident took place in Widnes, Cheshire, on the evening of August 2, where police officers found the woman, identified as Madison Boscoe-Hough, in a disoriented state.
Boscoe-Hough, aged 21, appeared in Warrington magistrates court, where it was revealed that she was unresponsive initially but later regained consciousness as authorities intervened. She was situated in the driver’s seat of the Audi A1, with the engine operational and the vehicle in gear, holding an empty balloon in her mouth and a sizeable canister on her lap.
Upon conducting a roadside drug test, Boscoe-Hough tested positive for cocaine. It was disclosed that a concerned motorist had alerted the police after observing the unusual situation. The passer-by reported the incident on Wilmere Lane in Widnes around 7.44pm on August 2.
Subsequent blood tests revealed that Boscoe-Hough, a resident of Sutton Leach near St Helens, had 68 micrograms of benzoylecgonine (BZE) per liter of blood, exceeding the legal limit of 50mcg/l. Following these findings, Boscoe-Hough admitted to drug driving charges.
As a result, she received a 20-month driving ban, a fine of £346, and was ordered to pay £223 in costs and surcharges. The court proceedings were highlighted by Umer Zeb, the prosecutor, who detailed the circumstances leading to Boscoe-Hough’s arrest.
During the hearing, Boscoe-Hough, who represented herself, acknowledged the events stating, “That is pretty much what happened. I do not have much more to add. That is essentially what happened.” The chairman of the bench, Ian Johnstone, expressed disapproval of her actions, emphasizing the severe risk posed by her unconscious driving with the engine running and the vehicle in gear.
