“Vodafone Introduces 5G Wi-Fi Router for Faster Internet”

Published:

Vodafone has introduced a new method for internet access. Instead of traditional copper or fiber connections, the company’s latest Wi-Fi router operates through a 5G mobile signal for downloading files and streaming movies.

This innovation caters to households without access to high-speed fiber connections or those seeking more flexibility, as the router is portable and convenient for renters or students frequently changing residences.

One of the key advantages is the simple installation process. Since it runs on Vodafone’s network, no technician visits or drilling is necessary. Users only need to plug it in, turn it on, and enjoy instant internet connectivity.

It’s important to note that this system offers speeds up to 150Mbps, suitable for activities like streaming Netflix, emailing, and remote work, but falls short compared to full fiber’s speeds exceeding 900Mbps.

For perspective, downloading a full HD movie with this 5G router takes about 8 minutes, whereas a fiber gigabit connection achieves the same in just 40 seconds.

To assist consumers in selecting the best option, Vodafone has launched an integrated availability checker on their website. By entering their postcode, users can determine whether full fiber or 5G Broadband provides faster speeds in their area.

Vodafone previously provided web access through the GigaCube, which has now been replaced by this new device.

Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, expressed, “With Vodafone 5G Broadband, we’re providing homes with a truly fast and convenient alternative to slow and unreliable broadband services. This launch aims to offer customers real choices for high-speed internet access.”

Additionally, Three, now part of Vodafone, offers a similar service. Vodafone’s plans start at £21 per month, while Three’s home broadband is priced at £11 for the initial nine months.
