“Usyk Plans Two More Years in Boxing, Fury Announces Comeback”

Published:

Oleksandr Usyk has provided Tyson Fury with positive news by announcing his intention to continue competing for the next two years. Earlier this year, the 38-year-old outlined his retirement plan, stating that he had two more fights left before hanging up his gloves. In a remarkable display back in July, Usyk defeated Daniel Dubois in front of a massive crowd at Wembley Stadium to secure the heavyweight championship for a second time.

Following his recent victory, Usyk plans to take a break for the remainder of the year to spend quality time with his family before making a comeback in 2026. Despite being instructed to defend his WBO belt against Joseph Parker, a fight that was postponed due to medical reasons, Usyk’s team successfully obtained a 90-day extension for the match.

In an interview with UNN, Usyk disclosed that he has resumed training with the goal of stepping back into the ring next year and striving for victory. Contrary to his previous statements about retirement, he now aims to retire at the age of 41 and establish a sports academy. Additionally, Fury, who previously announced his retirement following losses to Usyk, has confirmed his comeback for the upcoming year.

With Fury gearing up for his return, promoter Frank Warren expressed optimism about the heavyweight’s future fights. While a potential matchup with Anthony Joshua has been discussed, Warren emphasized Fury’s primary focus on a rematch with Usyk. As the boxing world eagerly awaits these anticipated bouts, the sport continues to captivate fans with its thrilling matchups and storylines.
