“UK City of Culture 2025: Finalists Announced!”

Published:

Three British cities and a town in Wales are in the running to be named the UK City of Culture for 2025. Southampton, Bradford, Durham, and Wrexham, the latter aiming to attain city status this year, could receive significant investment if selected. The Arts Minister emphasized the impact of culture in boosting towns and cities, referencing the success of Coventry, the current host city that has seen substantial investment in events and infrastructure. The selection process, overseen by a panel led by Sir Phil Redmond, will involve visits to the shortlisted locations before a final recommendation is made. The Culture Secretary will reveal the winning city in May, following the tradition of holding the competition every four years.
