“Trump’s Christmas Controversies: A Recap”

Published:

Many individuals take a crucial step to safeguard their mental well-being during this time of year by taking what I refer to as a “Trump break.” Over the Christmas period, many of us make a conscious effort to detach ourselves from the chaotic and erratic behavior of the leader of the free world. We pause his nonsensical actions for a few days, hoping that the world remains stable post-Christmas. However, as Christmas has passed, I have kept track of Trump’s activities so you can relax. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with unpredictability. Happy holidays to all. Christmas regards, Steve.

In the days leading up to Christmas, there were several instances of Trump’s peculiar behavior, particularly during the annual NORAD hotline event. Each year, NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) monitors Santa’s journey worldwide, allowing kids to call in and discuss Santa’s progress with volunteers, with the possibility of speaking to the President of the United States.

One memorable incident from his first term involved Trump questioning an 8-year-old caller about their belief in Santa, suggesting it could go either way at that age. While he did not surpass that moment, he had some noteworthy interactions. For instance, upon learning a child was from Pennsylvania, he boasted about winning the state by falsely claiming victory three times, despite losing it in 2020.

Further, Trump’s late-night Twitter rant on Christmas morning targeted Stephen Colbert, various TV networks, and news programs, threatening to revoke their broadcast licenses. He extended Christmas wishes to “radical left scum,” shared a Stephen Miller conspiracy theory, and made baseless claims about the 2020 election, which he lost to Joe Biden by a significant margin. In a bizarre move, he posted in all caps: “EVERYBODY CHRISTMAS STEVE,” leaving many puzzled about the reference to “Steve.”

Another striking event was Trump’s veto of a bill aimed at funding a major drinking water project in Colorado, which had received unanimous support. Colorado’s actions have placed it in Trump’s crosshairs, particularly due to the involvement of Tina Peters, a former election official convicted of tampering with voting machines during the 2020 election. Despite Peters’ conviction, Trump views her as a patriot attempting to uncover election fraud, a claim unsupported by evidence.

Trump has repeatedly called for Peters’ release, going as far as threatening Colorado with consequences for her imprisonment. Additionally, the veto affecting Colorado’s water project is linked to the district of Lauren Boebert, a Republican congresswoman who challenged Trump on the release of certain files.

Nick Shirley, a controversial figure, made false allegations against childcare centers in Minnesota, leading to the withdrawal of federal funding. His claims of fraud were debunked by investigations, yet the US government took drastic action based on his unfounded accusations.

Moreover, Trump hosted significant political figures at Mar A Lago during the Christmas break, including Zelensky to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine and Netanyahu to discuss unrelated matters. Trump’s focus on a lavish White House ballroom and plans for future inaugurations raised eyebrows, particularly his insistence on bulletproof glass installations.

As we move forward, the impact of Trump’s actions and statements continues to reverberate across various sectors, stirring debate and scrutiny in the political arena.
