“Trainer’s Duo Triumph: Oscars Brother Wins Boodles Chase”

Published:

A trainer, managing only two horses, achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother emerged victorious in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The competition, a Grade Two event, featured entries from prominent Irish stables including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Connor King, the trainer, outperformed his competitors with Oscars Brother, expertly ridden by his brother Daniel, who guided the seven-year-old through the challenging County Kildare course. Maintaining a front-running position, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impressive jumping skills and finished three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s yard.

Prepared for the three-mile race on soft to heavy ground with a prior novice chase at Galway, Oscars Brother’s team now anticipates the possibility of having a Grade One caliber horse among their limited training stock. Daniel expressed his excitement about winning for his brother, highlighting the horse’s positive development and competitive spirit.

Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, mentioned the potential consideration of the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period for Oscars Brother. Reflecting on the horse’s transition from hurdles to chasing, Connor recalled the race’s success and the strategic planning involved in targeting such prestigious events.
