Tragic Murder-Suicide in Brisbane Airbnb

Published:

A tragic incident unfolded in Brisbane as the lifeless bodies of Tiffany Wilkes, a 54-year-old anesthetist, and her exceptionally bright eight-year-old daughter, Clementine, were discovered in a luxurious $1000AUD per night Airbnb in Kenmore Hills. The grim discovery came after Wilkes was seen on CCTV taking out the trash a day before the bodies were found. Authorities are treating the case as a murder-suicide, following a welfare check prompted by an email Wilkes sent to a colleague outlining her intentions.

Concerns have been raised about potential missed opportunities by authorities to intervene and safeguard Clementine, who had been withdrawn from school by her mother. Despite Wilkes’ esteemed professional status, her struggles with mental health went unnoticed, possibly due to her ability to conceal them. Clementine’s academic excellence may have further masked any underlying issues at home.

Dr. Wilkes, a respected specialist with over a decade of experience in various Queensland hospitals, had recently been grappling with mental health challenges. Police are currently compiling a report for the Coroner, while questions linger regarding Clementine’s education and the unoccupied townhouse Wilkes owned. Despite being listed as a resident, Wilkes had never moved into the Norman Park property, as confirmed by neighbors.

As authorities continue their investigation, anyone in need of mental health support is encouraged to reach out to the Samaritans for assistance.
