A man with two children tragically passed away in an unusual incident when he was hit by his own toy airplane, leading to severe injuries. Roger Wallace, aged 60, was flying a large model plane at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tuscon, Arizona, when the accident occurred. Losing sight of the plane due to sunlight, it struck him, causing significant harm to his heart and lung. Despite efforts from friends and emergency services, Roger succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Roger had been an active member of the Southern Arizona Modelers, a group dedicated to radio-controlled airplanes, for three years. The club president, Jerry Knebel, described the incident as a rare occurrence, stating that it was an unprecedented tragedy. Before the accident, Roger had sold his auto parts store and was considering retirement while working for the new owners. Transitioning from drag racing to flying, he believed flying was a safer hobby.
Knebel emphasized the club’s commitment to safety, mentioning that they had not experienced any accidents in many years. Roger was remembered in his obituary as a kind and lively individual who will be deeply missed by his loved ones. In a separate incident, an aviation influencer, Tang Feiji, tragically died during a livestream in China when his aircraft crashed, despite desperate pleas from viewers for emergency assistance. Tang was known for his flying content on a popular Chinese social media platform.
