Sky subscribers who enjoy movie marathons will see a significant change in their TV lineup later this week. The broadcasting company has announced a restructuring of its channel offerings, merging Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family, effective April 30.
The consolidation aims to streamline the service by providing a unified platform for family-friendly films on channel 304. Viewers can anticipate finding popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked in one convenient location post the transition.
Despite the reduction in the number of channels, Sky assures customers that all content previously featured on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family. Additionally, for fans of Sky Cinema Animation, the standalone channel will make a temporary return during school holidays to entertain children.
The restructured service will be available from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5. In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security sector by introducing new smart devices. Customers can opt for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for a monthly fee of £5, with an initial cost of £15. This system includes features like full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking enhanced functionalities, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month and a £20 upfront charge. This package includes an indoor camera and additional app controls, such as scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, expressed the company’s goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible. Sky’s focus remains on delivering the most valued features to customers in a user-friendly, manageable, and cost-effective manner.
