The long-awaited return of the Rugby League Ashes to BBC screens is set to happen this month after a hiatus of more than two decades. The historic competition, which dates back to 1908, pitted Great Britain against Australia in a best-of-three series before its abrupt end in 2003. Now, England will step in as the challengers to the Australian team, marking a significant shift from the previous format.
Under the leadership of head coach Shaun Wane, England will carry on the legacy of the Great British team in their quest to compete against the Kangaroos. The upcoming matches will take place at three different venues in England, starting with the opening game at Wembley Stadium on October 25, followed by matches at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on November 1 and potentially at AMT Headingley Stadium on November 8 for the series decider.
All three games will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, featuring a lineup of experienced presenters and pundits. The return of the Rugby League Ashes is seen as a significant moment for the sport in the country, with high expectations for thrilling matches and memorable moments that will captivate audiences across London, Liverpool, and Leeds this autumn.
