A student who survived a previous school shooting shared her shock after experiencing another deadly attack at Brown University. The tragic incident at the Ivy League university resulted in two fatalities and nine injuries. The shooter opened fire in a classroom during pre-Christmas exams, prompting a large-scale manhunt that led to the apprehension of a “person of interest” by law enforcement.
Zoe Weissman, a 20-year-old survivor of the 2018 Parkland school shooting in Florida, expressed her deep frustration at facing yet another campus violence ordeal. She vividly recalled the tragic events at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where 17 individuals lost their lives due to the actions of Nikolas Cruz, a former student who carried out the attack on Valentine’s Day armed with multiple weapons.
Reflecting on the recent shooting at Brown University, Zoe conveyed her anger and disbelief, stating, “I’m really angry. I’m really angry that this is happening to me all over again. And I’m just in shock.” Recalling the harrowing moments during the incident, she described how she received a warning call from a friend urging her to take shelter as the chaos unfolded on campus.
In an interview with MS Now, Zoe disclosed that the recent shooting had mentally transported her back to her teenage years, likening her emotions to those she felt in 2018. She narrated her experience of staying updated with her family while seeking safety inside a classroom during the traumatic event.
Expressing concern over the prevalence of multiple school shooting survivors, Zoe highlighted the alarming trend of individuals enduring such traumatic events repeatedly.
