“New El-Alamein City: Egypt’s £160M Riviera Gem”

Published:

A cutting-edge city project worth £160 million is taking shape on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, aiming to rival top European holiday destinations like Spain, Italy, and Greece.

Known as New El-Alamein City, the development is set to become the new highlight of the Egyptian Riviera, offering pristine white beaches, clear waters, and pleasant November temperatures around 24°C.

The ambitious initiative aims to turn Egypt’s North West Coast into a prominent hub for international tourism and contemporary urban lifestyle. Situated in the Marsa Matruh governorate, approximately 60 kilometers along the Alexandria–Matrouh highway, the city covers nearly 49,000 feddans (around 200 million square meters).

Upon completion, New El-Alamein City is projected to accommodate nearly three million residents and stand as one of the most advanced cities in the Middle East. The first phase of the project is already underway, featuring residences for around 400,000 individuals. The city will encompass various sectors including residential, cultural, tourist, industrial, and research zones.

The extensive development will include luxury hotels, upscale resorts, a private university, and designated government buildings. Infrastructure projects such as water treatment facilities, sewage systems, and smart energy grids are being implemented by Egypt’s Urban Communities Authority and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

New El-Alamein City will be segmented into tourism, historical, and residential areas, offering a range of accommodations from high-end resorts to modern apartments. The seafront will host an expansive international promenade lined with dining establishments, cafes, retail outlets, and entertainment venues.

At the core of the city, the City of Culture and Arts complex will feature a theater, opera house, cinema, and production studios, positioning New El-Alamein as a cultural hub and a tourist attraction. The project also aims to alleviate population density in Cairo by providing a sustainable urban alternative supported by smart transportation systems and renewable energy sources.

Over 30 developers have been authorized to construct more than 30,000 hotel rooms in the initial phase of the project. Officials tout New El-Alamein City as a transformative endeavor for the Mediterranean region, showcasing Egypt’s northern shoreline as a desirable destination offering sunshine, luxury, and modern amenities within easy reach of the UK.
