“Mistaken Release: Sex Offender Escapes High-Security Prison”

Published:

An individual identified as Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, a sex offender, was mistakenly released from HMP Wandsworth, a high-security prison in London, on October 29. Kaddour-Cherif, 24 years old, had a recent court appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in September for failing to comply with sex offender requirements. While serving a sentence for trespass with intent to steal, he has a history of previous sexual offenses.

The Metropolitan Police have disclosed that Kaddour-Cherif, of Algerian descent, is currently at large. Authorities are actively conducting urgent investigations to locate and apprehend him to return him to custody. Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan, the Labour MP for Tooting, expressed deep concern over the situation, highlighting the seriousness of the prisoner’s offenses and demanding accountability from government authorities.

This incident follows another case where a convicted sex offender, Hadush Kebatu, was erroneously released from HMP Chelmsford in Essex. Kebatu, a 38-year-old Ethiopian national, had escaped to London but was eventually captured in a park in north London after spending three days on the run. Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the need to prevent such occurrences in the future and confirmed Kebatu’s deportation.

In a separate incident in September 2023, Daniel Khalife triggered a manhunt by evading custody at HMP Wandsworth. Khalife, who managed to flee by attaching himself to a food delivery van, was later apprehended in west London. Reacting to the recent release of Kaddour-Cherif, David Lammy expressed outrage and called for thorough investigations to address systemic flaws in the criminal justice system.

The ongoing situation underscores the need for robust measures to prevent accidental releases and protect public safety. Stay updated on this developing news story through various platforms like Google News, Flipboard, Apple News, Twitter, Facebook, or by visiting The Mirror homepage.
