Microsoft has issued a critical warning to all Windows 10 users as the end of support for the operating system is rapidly approaching in 2025. With just a few weeks left until the deadline, the tech giant has raised an urgent alert.
In an update on its website, Microsoft stated, “Reminder: Windows 10 will reach end of servicing on October 14, 2025.” Following this date, devices running Windows 10 will no longer receive monthly security updates, leaving them vulnerable to the latest cyber threats.
For users loyal to Windows 10, the recommendation is clear: upgrade to Windows 11 promptly or enroll in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates program to ensure continued protection for the next three years. Neglecting to take action could expose your computer to security breaches and software malfunctions.
Unlike Windows 11, Microsoft will not introduce new features to Windows 10 after the end of support. It’s crucial to prepare for the Windows 10 deadline by following these guidelines.
**UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 11**
If your PC meets the compatibility requirements, upgrading to Windows 11 is a straightforward process. Microsoft offers free updates, making it easy to transition to the new operating system and benefit from enhanced security features. Alternatively, purchasing a new laptop with Windows 11 pre-installed is another viable option, albeit a potentially expensive one.
**STICK WITH WINDOWS 10**
Remaining with Windows 10 necessitates considering Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESUs) to maintain protection against known threats and vulnerabilities. While ESUs do not offer new functionalities, they ensure the security of PCs under the plan. Microsoft will charge $30 (£24) annually for ESU enrollment, providing access to critical security updates for Windows 10.
