A man has been fighting a rare ‘flesh-eating’ disease for months after being “stabbed” in the head with a key in Glasgow city center. Jack Byrne, 32, from Birkenhead, was injured in an alleged dispute on July 12. Initially dismissing the wound, he later experienced swelling and balance issues, leading to a severe health decline. Hospitalized, Jack battled necrotising fasciitis, a life-threatening infection causing tissue death. He has lost 80% of vision in one eye and undergone multiple surgeries, enduring physical and mental challenges. Friends launched a fundraiser to support his recovery post-hospitalization. An arrest was made in connection with the incident, with legal proceedings ongoing.
