“Major Pharmacy Chain Rescues 60 Branches in Financial Collapse”

Published:

A major chain of pharmacies on the high street has stepped in to rescue 60 branches of a competing firm facing financial collapse.

Allied Pharmacies has assumed control of 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations. While most of these sites are currently shut down, Allied has assured the public of its commitment to restoring essential pharmacy services at these outlets.

Following this acquisition, Allied’s total number of branches in England and Wales will increase to approximately 210, as reported by C+D.

In a statement, Allied emphasized the crucial role community pharmacies play in promoting public health and acknowledged the impact of closures on vulnerable groups relying on local healthcare services. The immediate focus is on swiftly resuming pharmaceutical services at the newly acquired sites.

Recent discussions in Parliament highlighted concerns about Jhoots Pharmacies shutting down certain locations, leading to potential healthcare service gaps in communities. Reports also indicated staff facing payment delays.

Ownership of the pharmacies is divided between siblings Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with an estimated 150 Jhoots Pharmacies operating in the UK. Manjit Jhooty’s companies, Pasab and Jhoots Healthcare, manage over 20 branches and denied any operational issues. Sarbjit Jhooty reportedly owns the remaining 129 outlets.

A spokesperson for Manjit Jhooty affirmed the financial stability and continued provision of services at his pharmacies. Sarbjit Jhooty acknowledged workforce challenges and assured efforts to address them.

Jhoots Pharmacies has been approached for comments by the Mirror.
