Eddie Hearn has not ruled out the possibility of a surprise matchup between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua, as Paul is currently seeking a new opponent. Originally scheduled to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis in Miami on November 14, the fight is now uncertain following allegations of battery and kidnapping against Davis. Paul’s promotional team, Most Valuable Promotions, has confirmed the initiation of an investigation and the search for potential replacements.
In a released statement, Most Valuable Promotions stated that they are diligently reviewing the situation surrounding the lawsuit filed against Davis to make an informed decision. They emphasized their condemnation of any violence and assured a thorough and respectful handling of the matter before announcing the next steps.
Although the new opponent for Paul has not been officially disclosed, names like Ryan Garcia, Edgar Berlanga, and even Joshua have been circulating as potential candidates. Hearn hinted at the possibility of a bout between Joshua and Paul during an interview, mentioning that Joshua is currently focused on his upcoming February fight but did not rule out the chance of another match later in 2025.
Joshua’s last fight was against Daniel Dubois in September 2024, and if he doesn’t compete this year, it would mark the first time in his professional career that he hasn’t fought in a calendar year.
