Five individuals sustained injuries following a helicopter accident close to a beach in California, where beachgoers were relaxing just meters away from the crash site. The incident occurred around 2:00 pm local time, prompting a swift response from Huntington Beach Police after receiving reports of the helicopter going down in the beach parking lot situated between Twin Dolphins Drive and Beach Boulevard. Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been informed about the crash, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause.

The helicopter’s descent and subsequent collision with trees were captured on camera by a nearby bystander, revealing the harrowing moment. The pilot, identified as daredevil enthusiast Eric Nixon, owned the helicopter involved in the crash that occurred in Huntington Beach on a Saturday afternoon. Nixon, known for his thrilling aerial stunts and maneuvers, has garnered a significant following on social media. Prior to the accident, his Instagram account showcased multiple flights over the Huntington Beach area.

Eyewitness Timothy Bartlett, who was present at the beach during the crash, described the helicopter’s alarming descent and expressed his shock at the unfolding events. Bartlett observed individuals rushing towards the crash site while authorities worked to keep them at a safe distance. He speculated that a tail rotor detachment may have contributed to the crash, hoping for the well-being of all involved.

Initially, three individuals were reported injured in the helicopter crash, a figure later updated to five as more information emerged. Among the injured were three individuals on the ground at the time of the incident, with two occupants extracted from the helicopter wreckage. All injured parties were promptly transported to a medical facility for treatment.

In response to the incident, a statement posted on Facebook extended prayers to those affected and affirmed plans to proceed with the scheduled event the following day, pending any changes. A separate police statement on Facebook detailed the ongoing investigation into the helicopter crash, emphasizing the involvement of emergency services and the transportation of five individuals to the hospital for medical attention.

Reports from the California Highway Patrol indicated that the crash was reported around 2:09 pm local time near the site of the Cars ‘N Copters on the Coast event, in front of the Waterfront Beach Resort. A spokesperson from the Huntington Beach police confirmed that two individuals were onboard the helicopter and managed to escape, while three individuals on the ground sustained injuries and were also taken to a hospital.
