Halfords has made the decision to shut down all its branches on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year. The automotive retailer aims to provide its employees across the UK with a well-deserved break to spend quality time with their families. While Halfords stores will be closed on Christmas Day as well, they will resume regular operations on all other days throughout the holiday season.

Henry Birch, the Chief Executive Officer at Halfords, expressed gratitude towards the dedication of their staff who work tirelessly throughout the year to serve customers. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging their hard work by allowing them to unwind and enjoy precious moments with their loved ones.

The closure of stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day is a gesture of appreciation to ensure the team returns refreshed for the upcoming year. This decision comes in the wake of Halfords reporting increased sales and profits in the past six months, with cycling sales up by 9% and total revenues rising by 3.3% to £893.3 million. Additionally, like-for-like motoring revenues saw a 1.1% increase, and the autocentres business experienced a growth of 4.3%.

Joining Halfords in this practice, Home Bargains has also confirmed the closure of its stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The announcement was made on Facebook, expressing gratitude to the hardworking staff and encouraging them to relax and enjoy the festive break with their families.

Furthermore, Aldi, a well-known budget supermarket chain, will keep its doors closed on December 26 and New Year’s Day. The store will extend its operating hours leading up to Christmas to accommodate customers preparing for the holiday season. Rebecca Heley, Communications Director at Aldi UK, highlighted the importance of allowing all colleagues to unwind and enjoy the special time with loved ones, leading to the decision to close on Boxing Day.

These closures on significant holidays reflect the companies’ appreciation for their employees’ efforts and dedication throughout the year, ensuring they have the opportunity to recharge and spend quality time with family and friends.
