Lewis Hamilton has shared the sad news of his beloved bulldog Roscoe’s passing. The seven-time Formula 1 champion had been caring for Roscoe since Wednesday when he rushed the dog to a veterinary clinic as his health deteriorated rapidly.
Unfortunately, Roscoe’s condition worsened, and Hamilton revealed that the dog had fallen into a coma, expressing concerns about his recovery. Hamilton updated his followers on social media, explaining that Roscoe had developed pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe.
Despite efforts to stabilize him, Roscoe’s heart stopped during medical checks, leading to him being placed in a coma. Hamilton expressed uncertainty about Roscoe’s chances of waking up but appreciated the support and prayers from his followers.
Tragically, Hamilton later announced Roscoe’s passing on social media, acknowledging the outpouring of love the dog had received over the years.
Hamilton had welcomed Roscoe into his life in 2013, and the loyal companion had accompanied him to various F1 races in Europe, including Istanbul where Hamilton secured his seventh drivers’ title.
Roscoe had made a recent appearance at the British Grand Prix, standing by Hamilton at a fan event as a Ferrari driver. Despite overcoming pneumonia earlier in the year, Roscoe had to miss the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.
With a substantial following of 1.3 million on his Instagram page, Roscoe had become a celebrity in his right, attracting condolences from fans after his passing.
Hamilton had to forgo a Pirelli tyre test in Italy to be with Roscoe, with reserve driver Zhou Guanyu taking his place. The Formula 1 star’s decision to prioritize his dog over work resonated with fans worldwide.
