Chris Eubank Jr recently revealed that the upcoming rematch with Conor Benn is still pending full agreement. The rematch is set to occur on November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, following their initial encounter where Eubank Jr secured a narrow victory over Benn.
Originally scheduled for September 20, the rematch faced uncertainty when Eubank Jr expressed readiness issues. However, after negotiations between the two camps, a deal was eventually reached. Despite both fighters signing contracts for two bouts beforehand, Eubank Jr disclosed that certain terms are yet to be finalized during an interview on Ring Magazine’s Inside the Ring podcast.
Eubank Jr emphasized the ongoing negotiations for the contract, highlighting the need to secure the best deal for himself and his team. The rules for the rematch are expected to mirror the initial fight, with both fighters set to compete at 160lbs, and a 10lb rehydration clause in place. Eubank Jr faced dehydration concerns previously, leading to hospitalization after the last fight.
Regarding the rehydration clause, Eubank Jr’s promoter, Ben Shalom, voiced discontent, stating that Eubank Jr has reservations about the clause. Shalom criticized the ultimatum-like approach taken in finalizing the contract terms, questioning the necessity and fairness of such clauses in boxing.
The highly anticipated 12-round middleweight rematch is slated for November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with specific timings yet to be confirmed. Fans can anticipate the undercard starting around 5pm UK time, with the main event likely commencing at 9:50pm UK time. Broadcast details will be announced closer to the event date.
