Elderly Driver Dies in Liverpool Medical Incident

Published:

A motorist passed away after experiencing a suspected medical event while driving his vehicle. Merseyside Police disclosed that they responded to a situation on Longmoor Lane in Fazakerley, Liverpool, where a beige Ford Mondeo collided with a parked Mercedes. The collision resulted in minor damage, and emergency responders declared an 83-year-old man deceased at the scene due to a suspected medical incident.

The grey Mercedes was situated close to Kirkdale cemetery, prompting the closure of roads and the establishment of a cordon post-incident. Subsequently, the roads were reopened after the authorities retrieved the vehicle. Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy mentioned that the man’s relatives have been notified and are receiving support from specialized police personnel.

Although no other vehicles were apparently involved, except for the parked car, authorities are conducting investigations. Detective Sergeant Duffy expressed condolences to the deceased man’s family and encouraged any eyewitnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the inquiries.

Merseyside Police have urged the public to share any relevant information about the incident, particularly requesting CCTV or dashcam recordings. Individuals willing to aid the investigation can reach out to the Merseyside Police Contact Centre through their social media handle @MerPolCC or the official online reporting tool, quoting reference number 201 of October 11. For those who wish to remain anonymous, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or through their website.
